Diasporas, Trade, and Movement in the Greater Caribbean

The Association of Caribbean Historians (ACH) Executive Committee is pleased to announce that the 58th Annual Conference will be held at the Museo del Canal Interoceánico de Panamá in Panama City, from May 23 to 29, 2027.

For the 58th Annual Conference, the Executive Committee is particularly interested in papers and panels on diasporas, trade, and movement in the Greater Caribbean. As always, proposals on any aspect of Caribbean history are welcome. ACH invite submissions of individual papers, posters, and complete panels that engage with the conference theme, as well as other topics in Caribbean history.  

For those proposing panels, please note that the ACH seeks linguistic, geographic, and institutional diversity and representation. Since the conference provides simultaneous interpretation in English, Spanish, and French, the oragnisers encourage presentations in all three languages. Applicants are also encouraged to promote diversity among panelists with respect to institutional affiliation and academic experience. 

Preference is given to applicants who did not present at the previous conference (2025).  

Proposals must include: 

1. A 250-word abstract for each proposed paper. Abstracts must indicate the new contribution or approach of the work, as well as the archival, oral, or other primary sources consulted.  Abstracts must be submitted in English, French, and Spanish. Proposals submitted in fewer than all three languages will not be considered. 
2. A brief CV (no more than 3 pages) 
3. A brief bio (no more than 300 words) 

The deadline for proposal submission is October 16, 2026.
