Maritime research of the Yorkshire Coast and the Market Weighton Canal Trail

The Market Weighton Canal Trail website has recently been launched - it has a strong maritime dimension.

Our Trustee Dr Robb Robinson, Honorary Research Fellow, Blaydes Maritime Centre, contributed an online paper about the trade and commerce of the canal. Dr Peter Halkon, the archaeologist who excavated the Hasholme boat has contributed a paper about the archaeology of the area surrounding the canal whilst Professor Bryony McDonagh, professor of Environmental Studies at the University of Hull, has contributed a piece about the medieval use and management of the associated Wallingfen wetlands.

Details can be found under the section on Canal + Area History on the website. Here is the link: https://www.mwct.org.uk/

Dr Robb Robinson is interviewed by the Ridings of Yorkshire Society

In this episode, Jonny and Sam are joined by Dr Robb Robinson to talk about his career and some of his ongoing projects such as the Lord Mayor's 100th Anniversary plaques, the Market Weighton Canal Trail Community project and his own maritime research of the Yorkshire Coast.
